The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, part of the National Institutes of Health, was established to provide a research home for the development and application of new biomedical technologies and techniques for the improved delivery of health care in the 21st century. The NIBIB brings together the research communities of biomedical imaging, bioengineering, the physical sciences and the life sciences to advance human health by improving the quality of life and reducing the burden of disease.
