We are seeking candidates who are self-motivated and career-oriented to join an exciting, highly interactive research team. NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available immediately to work in the area of DNA damage repair and epigenetic regulation in the nervous system. The lab currently focuses on the molecular aspects of mood and psychosis spectrum disorders (incl. depression and schizophrenia) and the roles of histone (lysine) methylation and chromatin remodeling pathways in normal and diseased brain development (see our most recent publications: Proc Natl Acad Sci USA. 2010 May 11;107(19):8824-9; J Neurosci. 2010 May 26;30(21):7152-67; Neuropharmacology. 2010 Sep 22. [Epub ahead of print]; J Biol Chem. 2010 Sep 3;285(36):27767-75.) The approaches we take range from stem cell derived cultures to (human) postmortem brain, molecular biology and (epi) genomics to mouse genetics. A strong background in molecular biology is essential.
Highly motivated and energetic candidates are encouraged to email CV/letter to: schahram.akbarian@umassmed.edu or mail CV/letter to:
