This is an excellent opportunity for a scientist to work in and manage a critical area of late stage preclinical development. The Manager/Senior Manager R&D will lead several scientists who are responsible for vector engineering and generating mammalian manufacturing cell line candidates with our partners in Biopharmaceutical Development. The candidate will have a thorough understanding of processes of industrial cell line development for the production of antibodies or other therapeutic proteins as well as a solid background in both molecular and cell biology. Previous experience with management of a small group and an understanding of the basic regulatory requirements for the production of manufacturing cell lines will be critical. The candidate must be able to motivate and lead a group of scientists with diverse backgrounds, translating ideas in order to gain efficiencies in the cell line development process, and represent this function at project team meetings. The Research Manager will need to possess superb personal and project organizational skills and be able to effectively communicate ideas and work practices.

Strong managerial skills, with current responsibility for leading a small group of cell line engineering scientists in the biopharmaceutical industry

Demonstrated achievement in the manipulation of mammalian cell lines at the molecular level to realize host cell improvements

Strong interpersonal skills which allow productive interactions across departments and MedImmune global sites

Education:
B.S. 13+, M.S. 10+, Ph.D. with 4 or more years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and a degree in molecular or cell biology or related discipline

Experience with automation, including ClonePix and FACS, and liquid handlers would be highly desirable
