Postdoctoral Fellow, Protein Biochemistry and/or Metabolic Engineering, Center for Advanced Drug Research
Postdoctoral fellow positions in protein biochemistry and synthetic biology are available.
Synthetic biology fellows will lead efforts in metabolic engineering of bacteria for oral delivery of therapeutics and vaccines for infectious diseases. Protein biochemistry fellows will participate in characterization of molecular targets for developing anti-infective therapies and identifying protein bio-markers.
Location: Harrisonburg, VA
Ph.D. in protein biochemistry, biological engineering or a similar life science discipline is required. Synthetic biology candidates should have extensive experience in metabolic engineering for chemical biosynthesis. Protein biochemistry candidates should have proven expertise in protein expression and purification with experience in developing strategies and methods for difficult protein purification and refolding problems. In each case, strong understanding of protein chemistry and experience in biological and biophysical techniques essential for protein characterization is a must. Candidates nearing completion of their doctoral work and / or those with only up to 2 years of post-doctoral experience will be considered for these positions.
